Real málà,
two blocks from

SCROLL — HOW HOT DO YOU WANT IT?

01 / How hot do you want it

Pick your
heat first.

Sichuan food loses people for one reason: nobody tells them how hot it actually is. Here is the honest scale.

No heat

Nothing spicy at all. Safe for kids.

Pot Stickers · Xiao Long Bao

Warm

Chili flavor, no burn.

Szechuan Wontons · Kung Pao Chicken

Málà

Proper Sichuan — the numbing lands after the heat.

Boiled Beef · Mapo Tofu

Chengdu hot

The way the kitchen cooks it for itself.

Dry Chili Chicken · Spicy Lamb

Our own guide, not a rule — say how you want it in the order notes and the kitchen cooks to that.

02 / Who cooks it

Twenty years of
the same wok.

Sliced beef in Sichuan chili oil

Chef Tony Hu has been cooking Sichuan food in Chicago for more than twenty years, and the dishes people keep coming back for — the three-chili chicken, the dry chili chicken, the crispy shrimp in lemon sauce — came out of that kitchen.

Grant Park runs the same food in the South Loop: chilies toasted in the wok, peppercorn ground fresh, heat cooked to whatever level you ask for.

This is some good Chinese food, I had the fried rice combo and my God was it so good. The rice was cooked perfectly with the meat: chicken, beef, and shrimp being tender and juicy.

Travelling in Chicago for work and had craving for Chinese food. The food tastes great. I ordered Dan Dan noodle, Sichuan fried beans without knowing they offer a lunch special.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was good, and the free meal items for ordering a certain amount was a great bonus.

We arrived shortly after opening, and we had the whole place to ourselves. The server was friendly and knowledgeable.

We came to this location for lunch as we heard they had some solid lunch specials. You can get an entrée, a side of rice, a veggie roll, and a drink all for around ten dollars.

Before you
order.

Can you make it less spicy?

Add a note with your order telling us how hot you want it and the kitchen will cook to that. Plenty of the menu isn't spicy to begin with — dumplings, pot stickers, fried rice, and the sweet-and-sour and sesame dishes.

Is there anything vegetarian?

Yes. The Tofu and Vegetables sections of the menu are largely vegetarian, including mapo tofu, spinach with ginger sauce, and cucumber salad with fresh garlic.

Do you take reservations?

No reservations — walk in, or order online and pick it up at the counter.

How do I get there without driving?

Harrison on the Red Line is one block away, Roosevelt is about a ten-minute walk, and the Loop is roughly eight minutes on foot up Wabash.

Can you handle a large order?

Call (312) 285-2282 for parties and large pickup orders so the kitchen can time everything to come out together.

Pickup or delivery?

Order online for pickup at 616 S Wabash. We don't take delivery orders through this site.
